Cozy, homey, and practical home

When unpretentious elements like natural colors and textures, things that age well, and can take wear and tear come together in a practical way, you get a comfortable, cozy and a very livable home.

Creating a similar exterior may not be an option in cities but the interior elements would make welcome touches in any setting.

^ That green door, the covered porches, the easy-going landscaping, with the gravel and flagstone path are all cool touches.

^ I love the saltillo tiles, the kilim rug, and the big practical benches in this mudroom.

^ That rooster rug is nice. I also love those fabric covers. You don't always need the structure and the strength of rigid doors. Sometimes you just need a dust blocker, and efficiency is a good thing. The fabric also adds a warmer/softer touch. I like the painted cabinets and the DIY-ish kitchen island, too.

Interior and exterior inspiration

kitchen cabinets with blue paint job
^ The exposed beams on the ceiling are cool but what struck me was the easy-going and great-looking paint job on the kitchen cabinets.

Mediterranean landscaping
^ Mediterranean style xeriscaped yard with some French touches, specifically the carefully trimmed foliage.

cozy living room
^ Love the couch cover, the rugs and, of course, the huge windows. A cozy and casual room, for sure.
small and cozy front porch
^ Love the color of the door, the brick stairs, the potted plants, and the small front porch. Seems like a very cool and charming house.

Create warm, cozy, and beautiful spaces whether you like the cleanliness of white, the character of rough & natural materials, or the liveliness of bright colors.

Patchwork kilim rug

Great cozy spot by the window, and the patchwork kilim rug is nice, too. Why waste old and worn kilims when you can cut them up and make something cool? Kinda like this here.

Cozy, casual, comfortable

The three C's are where it's at! Hammocks, exposed ventilation pipes, kilim rugs don't hurt either!

Cozy Scandinavian

I can't decipher the language so I am not sure but I think Norrgavel makes furniture and their gallery has some inspiring and beautiful images. That attic made a great bedroom with those exposed beams and rough wood, and the dining chair looks great, classic style but with modern clean lines, and all the kilim rugs and pillows in that bottom image make the the place nice and cozy!

Cozy by slipcovers

Cool coffee table, cool rug, and slip covers for couches always make things easier. A cozy living room.

Hide rug

Great stone wall, cool hangers, and that stitched hide rug all come together nicely to create an easy-to-live-with and rugged entryway.

Warm & unpretentious

Found a new blog that I'm excited about; WarmDeco.blogspot.com seems to have a lot of inspiring pictures of unpolished homes and casual settings.

Practical beauty

If you had walls like these you'd never have to paint them. -The rug's nice, too.

Painted floors!

Isn't this awesome! Gotta love personal touches like this. Adds so much character to a place, and I especially like the lively, easy-going style of this painted rug.

Low maintenance & long life!

That rug and those stone walls are awesome. They have rich texture and a lot of character, they give life and color to this place, they let it breathe. Also you'll never have to put a coat of paint on those walls, which is a super easy-going plus!

CCK (Casual Colorful kilims)

I love kilims, they have great color and texture and they're a lot easier to maintain and clean than most other rugs/carpeting. Most importantly though they make any place instantly more cozy. I also love casually layering or overlapping rugs.

Humility

Humble and calm interiors. I love the natural textures, and that simple floor bed!

Rock some tights

Tightly woven rugs and stone walls are great, they look cool and are very low maintenance. Tighter the weave the easier it is to keep a rug clean. That kitchen island is pretty cool, too, and the bed on the floor is always an unpolished favorite. Who needs a bed frame anyway?

Cozy Casual Couch

These white covers might be hard to live with, they may get dirty too quickly but there's something homey and comforting about these classic couches. The rugs in both pictures are pretty cool, too.

Easygoing & cozy > fancy

Easygoing and relaxed environments are always more interesting and happier than fancy and luxury environments. Relax, get comfortable, and enjoy!

Casual living rooms

Couple of casual and easy-going living rooms. The coffee table in the bottom picture is quite nice, it's simple, practical and has rounded edges which anyone with small kids can appreciate, and it actually happens to be safer for people of all ages. The rug in that picture is pretty cool, too.

Cozy living room

This is Amanda Peet's living room. It's bright, unpretentious, easy-going and comfortable. Way to go Amanda!

Personality goes a long way

There are some details I don't like here, like that blue couch in the living room, but overall I love the combination of industrial and comfortable. The industrial elements give the place a lot of personality and also create a low maintenance place, while the place over all still feels cozy and warm.
