Imperfection soothes the soul, and so does nature. Incorporating natural materials, textures in forms that will age well and acquire character with use, go far in creating cozy rooms. Natural light and visual access to outdoors help, too, as seen in this eat-in kitchen. Those elements also help create timeless spaces which I always prefer over investing in trends that will soon seem dated.
^ Cool cozy kitchen. I like the Thonet chairs, the exposed brick, and the tile by the doors.
^ I love this mudroom with its unpretentious, practical shoe racks, and ample space to hang coats. The art work over the coat hooks seem a bit too repetitive and impersonal though.
^ Love the texture and the warm color of the paint job on the wall.

Relaxing rooms with character
A little wear and tear is inevitable so it's best to cherish it. It adds character to living spaces. It's what makes a place a home, and let's the people in it relax a little.

Adirondack chairs indoors
Adirondack chairs are great! They're simply put together, they're very comfortable, and even their iconic looks inspire a desire to relax! Who says they're "meant" for outdoors anyway? Might as well place them somewhere where they'll get more use! (That end table's pretty cool, too.)

Interiors with character (or, random inspiration 2)
The most inspiring interiors are neither the ones that were put together with expensive items, or are organized and anally matchy-matchy in style, or color, etc. The real beautiful interiors have a quality that is hard to easily replicate, they're not formulaic. They are not just for show, they don't seem lifeless and perfect as if the stylists have just left, or empty like a fancy hotel suite waiting for its guests. They are lived in and the inhabitants' lifetstyle added to the room's style. They have character.

Create warm, cozy, and beautiful spaces whether you like the cleanliness of white, the character of rough & natural materials, or the liveliness of bright colors.

CCC - Casual classic couch
This classic couch is so iconic just the sight of it is comforting! I also love that they used an adirondack chair indoors!

Great antique wood floor
While the distressed leather furniture's cool, and the aged brick wall is, while a little on the extreme side, still pretty nice - the wood flooring is awesome!

Cozy by slipcovers
Cool coffee table, cool rug, and slip covers for couches always make things easier. A cozy living room.

Don't decorate - live!
Isn't this place great?! Things aren't there for show, everything has a use, and you can tell are being used... The stuff is still organized but in an unpretentious, functional way, not in an anal, show-off way. This place is inspiring.

Warm & unpretentious
Found a new blog that I'm excited about; WarmDeco.blogspot.com seems to have a lot of inspiring pictures of unpolished homes and casual settings.
Kilim cushions
Kilim cushions (and rugs) always add great color and texture. They make any place cozier.

Pretty rustic
Nice laid-back elements: that stone wall, cozy couch, kilim rug, cool distressed leather chair, that old basket used for lighting, cabinets...etc, too many to count.

The good life
Clean, simple, rustic, and easygoing place by the interior designer Sarah Lavoine. Notice the lack of status symbols in or around this place. The exterior shots are great, I just wish there were more of them.

Cozy Casual Couch
These white covers might be hard to live with, they may get dirty too quickly but there's something homey and comforting about these classic couches. The rugs in both pictures are pretty cool, too.

Easygoing & cozy > fancy
Easygoing and relaxed environments are always more interesting and happier than fancy and luxury environments. Relax, get comfortable, and enjoy!

Casual living rooms
Couple of casual and easy-going living rooms. The coffee table in the bottom picture is quite nice, it's simple, practical and has rounded edges which anyone with small kids can appreciate, and it actually happens to be safer for people of all ages. The rug in that picture is pretty cool, too.
