Beauty & utility of using broken tiles

Broken tiles can look amazing! If you have broken tiles no need to throw them away. You or someone else can create beautiful and useful spaces with them.  It is great when such value (& beauty) is created from what some might consider trash.

Broken tiles add a lot of character and an easy-going, relaxed flair wherever they are used.

I posted about broken tiles before. If you'd like to see more broken tile inspiration, just search "broken tiles" in the search bar on the right column.

Stone paths, stairs, & rustic outdoor dining

These images make a great case for natural materials and forms, don't they? They age better, they look better, they're easier to maintain, and take less processing to prepare. What else could we ask for? Btw, the paint job in that patio is really nice, too.

Live outdoors!

Combine the coziness and comfort of a living room type set-up with the charm of a pleasant landscape, and you get a very appealing outdoor space.

Random inspiration

Let's make life comfortable, casual, and beautiful without being pretentious. Style does not have to cost a high price, or be exclusive, or come at the expense of impracticality or discomfort.

Create warm, cozy, and beautiful spaces whether you like the cleanliness of white, the character of rough & natural materials, or the liveliness of bright colors.

Homey cozy

These are some great places in my opinion, and what's common between them is little touches of grace, natural materials, and well-kept but showing-some-wear items. I love those bright yellow dining chairs and the Thonet dining chairs.

Outdoor dining area

This is how al fresco dining should be; with lots of casual foliage around.

Outdoor stone floors

Rustic and rough stonework always look good, especially when there's a great view by it!

Deciduous vines for shade & patio cover

Building an open pergola and using deciduous vines for shade makes a lot of sense. They look amazing, if you use grape vines you get delicious fruit for free, and they give you shade and help cool your house in summer (when you want it) and give you and your house the warmth of sunshine in colder months. Also, did I mention they look amazing!?

Amazing natural looking pool

With casual stone perimeters, planter borders, the waterfall, and the mix of colorful plants, this backyard pool set-up looks amazing!

Casual landscapes and an amazing shower!

Amazing shots of easy-going exteriors... That green roof and the shade"sail" (or cloth) are amazing. Fabric is always an effective, practical, and inexpensive way to create shade and it has a great casual look.  And that shower... not the most attainable set-up but there's definitely some inspiration there!

Rustic patio with stone walls

Relaxing cozy bedroom and beautiful patios with natural materials all in the same house? Not too shabby! I love the stone walls and the white paint on the door and window trims.

Rustic cabin

Cool looking rustic place this one! A lot of American rustic seems to have a southwestern theme going, which is nice, but it's cool to see some rustic set-ups without that cowboy look & feel.

Cozy porch by the water

Great relaxing place, no? A simple, cozy, and unpretentious life is always charming. And when you have a porch right by a lake, and are surrounded by easy-going nature, what else would you want, right?

Relax in natural beauty

Great easy-going place with xeriscaped plants, stone walls, gravel on the ground, and cheerful colors that were allowed to show some age. Not only do these features give a place cozy-casual feel, they also make the place easier to maintain and last longer which makes the place truly relaxing!

Rustic bathroom and cozy entrance

Great flagstone patio, nice gate, cool front door, and cozy flagstone walkway with green growing between the stones. Seems like the lawn might be dichondra, too. Nice!

This bathroom is a little too rustic, but it's has a lot of character and with a few little touches it would be really cool & cozy. I love the exposed plumbing!
