Unpainted wood and stone make a great easy-going match.

Easy-going home
The place seems easy-going and low-maintenance without unnecessary bs - and beautiful! That must be the formula to live happily!

Simple shower
This bathroom is a little too prison-like but the simplicity is inspiring and definitely makes things easier to maintain. Those who follow the blog already know that I love exposed plumbing (here and here.)

Great antique wood floor
While the distressed leather furniture's cool, and the aged brick wall is, while a little on the extreme side, still pretty nice - the wood flooring is awesome!

Cozy Scandinavian
I can't decipher the language so I am not sure but I think Norrgavel makes furniture and their gallery has some inspiring and beautiful images. That attic made a great bedroom with those exposed beams and rough wood, and the dining chair looks great, classic style but with modern clean lines, and all the kilim rugs and pillows in that bottom image make the the place nice and cozy!

Great cabin
Love this picture... but I must not be as romantic as I used to be; looking at this image I kept thinking that the log diameters were overkill, they could be thinner, and that rough patio would be pretty hard to sweep. Overall, the place looks great but I think exaggerating some elements at the cost of practicality is not the best idea.

Equipale furniture
I love these equipale chairs. The rustic natural materials, naturally tanned leather, and that they are still made by hand as they were centuries ago give them a lot of character -and yes, they are very comfortable and look great!

Free is good
Great place, causally put together with naturals materials, forms, and textures. Here's a beautiful house and what makes it beautiful doesn't cost much - actually, in most cases comes free and unprocessed from nature. Way to go!

Pretty rustic
Nice laid-back elements: that stone wall, cozy couch, kilim rug, cool distressed leather chair, that old basket used for lighting, cabinets...etc, too many to count.

Use what's available
In my opinion, few things are more boring than attempted perfection. All that extra effort to create and maintain it and it doesn't look half as good or interesting... The rough and natural textures here make a strong argument against perfectionism.
Rock some tights
Tightly woven rugs and stone walls are great, they look cool and are very low maintenance. Tighter the weave the easier it is to keep a rug clean. That kitchen island is pretty cool, too, and the bed on the floor is always an unpolished favorite. Who needs a bed frame anyway?
Beautifully unadorned
This is a pretty cool bath, no? Low maintenance stone, doors that open up to the outdoors, lots of natural light coming through big windows, and unbleached curtains. Not too shabby.
This is Steve McQueen and his wife Neile Adams enjoying a bath together. Isn't it cool to see celebrities in an unpolished and unpretentious space? That place would be pretty low maintenance and would last a long time, too.

Tasteful!
Whether you have a tiny balcony or an amazing patio, or you have neither and you're just at a park somewhere, food tastes better outdoors (weather permitting!) and the more you eat outside the happier life will be. That first picture is an especially ideal set up for the art of dining al-fresco (a pretentious way of saying eating outdoors) with that great flooring, super cool stone walls and the patio awning put together using unpolished, minimally processed logs.

Wooden revival
This place has a lot of great furniture simply put together by salvaged wood, old shipping crates, and pallets. They're relatively easy to put together and they really show how great raw wood looks. These things give their home a lot of character and are also easy to live with because you don't need to worry about scratching them, or hurting the finish.

Not so utopic utopia
Wouldn't it be great if we all lived like this? If we thought more highly of the warm, friendly, and the easy going instead of the pretentious, the status-conscious, and the vain? Me thinks; yes, that would be great!

Rockin' floors!
I am not too wild about the furniture or the artwork and the mirror on the walls but I really like the walls themselves and especially the flooring in these images. The last one is just a bonus landscape shot, the patio cover is quite cool looking in that one.

Relaxing bedroom
This is one super cool bedroom, isn't it? It has those big windows, those exposed beams, simple and cozy bedding, that ledge by the bed where you can put all your stuff... An overall good looking, simple and very relaxing set-up.
