Less ego, more confidence in decoration

You want to have a hammock inside? Go for it! Or, like me, do you think crates make great modular furniture? Don't hold back, use them. Many people are held back by their concern for others' judgement. It seems the younger generations will overcome these obsessions. It is now common to see shipping crates used creatively, upcycled-recycled items, more utilitarian, easier to live with furniture replacing flawlessly-polished intricately-carved status-symbol furniture. The result is more humane, more creative, more efficient and environmentally friendly living spaces, and a more comfortable, a less status-conscious, a better life!

Wabi-sabi

Some explain wabi-sabi as finding beauty in imperfection -as if that's unexpected. (That's a really nice pallet-bed btw.)

Cozy & comfortable

Cozy& comfortable beats pretentious & high-maintenance any day. Relax, and find true beauty!

Simple textiles with character

Textiles make a room/bed/couch/etc cozier. When picking textiles go for character and simplicity, that way they'll cheer you up and help you relax.  The fancy stuff is for show and you can't really use them comfortably for fear of staining them or pulling a thread, or something.

Cozy rooms from blissfulbblog.com

Bunch of really cool and inspiring shots of liveable and cozy looking spaces from the blissfulbblog.com. It's not all about decor, the blog also has fashion, recipes, etc. and it's all great looking!

Elegant white rooms

I usually prefer more color and variety than monochrome palettes in any hue. But these white rooms (& the one exterior) are quite nice!

Rustic patio with stone walls

Relaxing cozy bedroom and beautiful patios with natural materials all in the same house? Not too shabby! I love the stone walls and the white paint on the door and window trims.

Rustic cabin

Cool looking rustic place this one! A lot of American rustic seems to have a southwestern theme going, which is nice, but it's cool to see some rustic set-ups without that cowboy look & feel.

Fur bed spread

Especially in cooler months I fantasize about sleeping under a fur comforter. Would all the dust it catches cause respiratory problems, or would it be super cozy? Looks pretty inviting for sure.

Slanted window covering

Isn't this a simple and cool way of handling slanted windows? Fabric curtains are easier to maintain, and create warmer and cozier spaces by softening the appearance of walls and windows. I am also all for simple mattress-on-the-floor solutions. If only they had picked a variety of colors for the walls, the bedding, etc. instead of this monotone look.

Rest easy

Rough stone walls, and crisp simple linens contrast well with the shiny tiles. And just like the stone walls, the tiles are low maintenance and will never need a coat of paint... That should help you sleep better.

Soothing bedrooms

The general formula = natural and easy going
Some possible specifics (in this case) = Natural textures, stone walls, rough plasters, and modest and crisp textiles

Easy going bedrooms

Cool linens, a casually made bed, a great view, some fresh air... all make for relaxing rooms that help you sleep well. Screw stuffy bedrooms with beds 3 feet off the ground and covered with decorative pillows.

Use what's available

In my opinion, few things are more boring than attempted perfection. All that extra effort to create and maintain it and it doesn't look half as good or interesting... The rough and natural textures here make a strong argument against perfectionism.

Humility

Humble and calm interiors. I love the natural textures, and that simple floor bed!

Rock some tights

Tightly woven rugs and stone walls are great, they look cool and are very low maintenance. Tighter the weave the easier it is to keep a rug clean. That kitchen island is pretty cool, too, and the bed on the floor is always an unpolished favorite. Who needs a bed frame anyway?

Relaxing bedroom

Not a bad bedroom, no? Who wouldn't want large french doors that open to a green yard from a simple, comfortable, and easy-going bedroom?
