Thomas Jefferson quote on a good, simple life

I fully agree with Thomas Jefferson's quote below. I used only the essential parts of it on the image, highlighting a simple life with friends and books being preferable to power and luxury. Here is the full quote; "I had rather be shut up in a very modest cottage with my books, my family and a few old friends, dining on simple bacon, and letting the world roll on as it liked, than to occupy the most splendid post, which any human power can give."

Background image is from here and I added the quote to it.

Random inspiration

Let's make life comfortable, casual, and beautiful without being pretentious. Style does not have to cost a high price, or be exclusive, or come at the expense of impracticality or discomfort.

Cool & unpretentious is a hard combo

Great images portraying an unpolished life with natural and minimally processed materials (or ingredients!)
Notice the lighting, the counter, and the rough wall in the bathroom. Everything about the patio shot with the hammock is great, the ingredients, the bread, and the cutting board are cool in the 3rd shot, and the flooring, the brick wall, and those double doors are really nice in the bottom shot. Enjoy!

Live outdoors!

Look it's that same tree house from a few posts ago, again! I love the outdoors, find open air a lot more enjoyable, relaxing, stimulating...etc. so I love large patios like these and would love to live in a tree house like this!

Cozy, casual, comfortable

The three C's are where it's at! Hammocks, exposed ventilation pipes, kilim rugs don't hurt either!

Tree house on a tree!

This tree house is one of the best living situations I've ever seen!  If this thing was by the water, it would be about as close to perfection as I can wish for! (Also see this!)

Go comfy, not fancy

Exposed beams and ceiling structure, stone and natural plaster walls, simple furniture, and an indoor hammock! An honest and comfortable package! The room is a little on the dark side for me, but still quite nice.

And the place isn't too shabby on the outside either...

Hammocks everywhere!

I love hammocks! I am amazed at how such a simple and inexpensive structure offers so much comfort! No reason why they can't be used indoors (and indeed have been used indoors in many parts of the globe for many years.) If you are short on space, hammocks are also easy to set up so you can just remove when you don't need it and hook back up when you do. Yeeha!indoors hammockImage from ApartmentTherapy.com - there are many comments from people who have done the same and -guess what- they all love it.

OGMA!

A great bed with a simple design, nice uncluttered room/patio, soothing natural color on the walls and a fantastic view - not too shabby!ogma dhio balinese tropical roomOgma rest house in the Dhio Endheka resort - from Jennilyn Q. Salvador's article in clickthecity.com
