Interior and exterior inspiration

^ The exposed beams on the ceiling are cool but what struck me was the easy-going and great-looking paint job on the kitchen cabinets.

^ Mediterranean style xeriscaped yard with some French touches, specifically the carefully trimmed foliage.

^ Love the couch cover, the rugs and, of course, the huge windows. A cozy and casual room, for sure.

^ Love the color of the door, the brick stairs, the potted plants, and the small front porch. Seems like a very cool and charming house.

Don't take decoration too seriously

If you feel like it, then paint/decorate your door, or walls! Don't take life too seriously, or demand that every finish and every surface is perfect. Gutsy and unique touches add a lot of character and set a precedent that lets others be creative and non-traditional as well.
